NTSI 2020 HAS CONCLUDED.
Thank you for your participation!

Welcome to City Schools!

The New Teacher Summer Institute will be held virtually from August 10-13. Over the course of these four days, you’ll be given lots of information about the upcoming school year, City Schools, and more. Plus, you’ll get the chance to hear from district leadership and talk with your colleagues.

The theme this year is “We are Baltimore! We are City Schools! We are Educators!”

NTSI will feature engaging learning sessions, choice seminars, dynamic presenters and speakers, giveaways, opportunities to connect with fellow new teachers, break-out groups by grade and content and so much more.
Each day (from August 10-13) will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with plenty of time for breaks, optional dance blocks and a one hour lunch time. You will be paid a stipend of $125 for each full day of participation. If you have any questions about this process or your pre-employment status, please email Human Capital.

NOTE: If you will be serving at a charter or contract school, please contact your principal regarding plans for new teacher induction, as many charter and contract schools provide their own distinct NTSI programming.

Bay Brook Elementary Middle School Baltimore City Public Schools
Music Teacher
Baltimore, MD
I am a mother of a beautiful 19 year old daughter, Allenah who attends Fairmont State University as a Studio Art Major. I am the fiancé to Tom and we just moved into The ICON Rotunda with his cat Beast  and my dog Loki. I am from Fairmont West Virginia, went to Marshall University and majored in Music Education and Vocal Performance. I moved to Martinsburg West Virginia after graduating from Marshall, and landed my first music teaching job at South Middle School; where I had a competition Show Choir called South Spirit. I stayed in Berkeley County Public Schools for 27 years and taught at the Elementary, Middle School areas until 2001; when I found my what I thought was my forever teaching gig, with 4th and 5th graders at Orchard View Intermediate School. I began the only 5th grade show choir that competed with the middle schools called Harmony. In between all of this teaching, I received my Masters in Reading from West Virginia University, was married and divorced, moved from our home because of water damage and mold to an apartment, consistently worked 2 jobs for the past 27 years because WV Schools do not pay teachers squat! This past year has been my year of change, I got engaged, cancelled our wedding twice because of stupid Covid and do not have any idea when we will get married because of Covid, moved away from everyone and everything to begin this new life with Tom and teaching in Baltimore. In my spare time I love to paint, read, watch as many music, dance and entertainment shows that I can, as long as The CAPS are not playing Hockey, because I am obsessed with the Washington Capitals! I am a workaholic just like my parents, as well a that friend who will drop everything to be there when I am needed. My heart is on my sleeve and I try everyday to make a positive change within myself to be better. I just turned 50 and my body and mind are going through a roller coaster of emotions and transitions. I love music and teaching it to others! I wake up everyday excited to be able to start a music spark within my students! I am a ball of energy who is ready to tackle whatever this world has to offer with love, poise and dignity.
